In an interview with the BBC, Electronic Arts executive producer David DeMartini discusses his upcoming game The Godfather, based on the classic Mafia film series, and begins talk of sequels just a few weeks before the first game is due in stores. "We went into this venture taking into consideration the establishment of a brand new franchise. Our intention is to make two and three," said DeMartini. A second and third game would have to proceed without the services of legendary actor Marlon Brando, who portrayed Don Vito Corleone in the films. Brando contributed to the voice portrayal of his character for the upcoming game, but died shortly afterward. However, the game is already missing the voice of Al Pacino as the film's main character Michael Corleone, so EA will be prepared to work around the missing character. Details on the sequels are up in the air, but subsequent film releases added storylines centered around a young Vito, played by Robert De Niro. The game sequels could potentially explore that avenue, though they'd be advised to steer clear of the Sofia Coppola segments in The Godfather Part III.
