Cloud-based gaming service provider Gaikai announced today that David Reitman, formerly of server provider Switch and Data and AT&T, will join the company as the vice president of business development. Reitman acted as a supporting business executive for products and services such as World of Warcraft, Everquest II, BattleNet, and Onlive. Most recently, Reitman worked at AT&T’s Digital Media and Online Games Services group. Gaikai hopes Reitman’s experience will help the company secure deals with publishers and business partners. “I’m delighted that David has joined Gaikai, his vast experience will be invaluable in assisting us in bringing game publishers and business partners onto the Gaikai platform,” commented David Perry, CEO of Gaikai Inc. Gaikai’s business model allows users to try games by clicking on web advertisements that will launch the game within the browser itself, without installing a client or downloading additional software. Recently, Gaikai received investment money from Intel Capital and on-demand software company Limelight Networks, and signed a deal with Electronic Arts to stream several of its major titles through the service.
