GameFly Rental Chart Highlights: Week Ending February 13

This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending February 13th, show popularity over multiple game formats. Online tournament play is still driving Dead or Alive 4 rentals to the top of the all-format GameFly charts, where it's one of six Xbox 360 games in the overall top 10. Second place, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, is also specifically the 360 edition of EA's street racer, while Tales of Legendia on PlayStation 2 at #3 shows the current generation putting up a fight. Legendia also tops the PS2 list, though the big winner this week on regular consoles is the #2 finisher Arena Football from EA Sports, another in the company's line of football games to exploit its exclusive NFL license. Shadow of the Colossus, meanwhile, has just about fallen off the top three, and with new releases starting to come back strong after the holiday season, this may be its last chance in the spotlight. Arena Football is #1 on the standard Xbox list, on top of similarly Western-oriented titles Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones at #2 and Half-Life 2 at #3. On the Xbox 360, Dead or Alive 4 is still on top, as foreshadowed by the all-platform charts, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted joins it at #2 in duplicating the all-platform success. Third place goes to Condemned: Criminal Origins once again. A new Nintendo release for the GameCube means a new face on the GC charts: Super Mario Strikers is still in the lead at #1, but oddball adventure game Chibi-Robo debuts at #2 this week, making for lots of good cheer around the Sanderson household. Mario Party 7 finishes out the top three on Nintendo's console. On its handheld, Final Fantasy IV this week bests Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy in a duel, coming out on top for once and sending Yu-Gi-Oh back down to second. A resurgence for Ubisoft's Dogz into third place has the virtual pups wagging their tails. A burst of activity from Capcom on the newer handhelds has led to some longtime favorites being dethroned. On the Nintendo DS, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, a remake of the original PSone horror adventure with touch-screen elements, has shambled up to #1 in its debut week. Electroplankton remains a quirky hit at #2, leaving Animal Crossing: Wild World to be content with its third-place showing. Meanwhile, on the PSP, a pair of Capcom releases sends Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories reeling back to #3: first place goes to Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X, while Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX pops up at #2 on Sony's handheld.
