GameFly Rental Chart Highlights: Week Ending February 6

This week's GameFly video game rental charts for North America, specifically relating to games rented via the games-by-mail service for the week ending February 6th, show popularity over multiple game formats. More Xbox 360 madness on the all-platform charts this week, with Dead or Alive 4 still on top of the overall pile. The 360 version of Peter Jackson's King Kong plays second banana to Tecmo's fighter this week, and the current-generation consoles redeem themselves with a third-place showing for Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. After a rallying streak last week, Shadow of the Colossus's grip meter runs out and it falls back to #2, leaving Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones to grab the #1 position on the PS2-specific charts again. Coming in third is Capcom's PS2 port of Resident Evil 4. 25 to Life, which last week led the Xbox charts, has careened to the bottom of the top 10 after players have had a chance to experience it for themselves: the newly configured Xbox chart consists of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones at #1, Half-Life 2 at #2, and Gun at #3. The Xbox 360-specific chart has settled down at least temporarily into a pattern, exactly mirroring last week's list. Dead or Alive 4 is still on top, as foreshadowed by the all-platform charts, and Peter Jackson's King Kong joins it at #2 in duplicating the all-platform success. Third place goes to Condemned: Criminal Origins once again. The GameCube chart illustrates a battle between old rivals Mario and Sonic duking it out on Nintendo's waning console: Mario is definitely in the lead with Super Mario Strikers at #1 and Mario Party 7 at #2 to his credit, but Sonic has Shadow the Hedgehog waiting in the wings at #3 for its chance to reclaim the top spot on GC. On the portable side of Nintendo's empire, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy is still at #1 on the Game Boy Advance charts, over beefed-up SNES port Final Fantasy IV at #2. Pokémon Emerald returns to the top 3 in third place. On the Nintendo DS, the curious phenomenon of Animal Crossing: Wild World rentals continues to earn the title #1, despite its nature as a game which asks players to be in it for the long haul. The shorter-session-friendly Electroplankton is #2 this week, ahead of DS action-RPG Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time at #3. Finally, on the PSP charts, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is still holding its own at #1 on the PSP list, but a new face does show up on the handheld's chart at last: Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X powers up to #2, ahead of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo in third.
