Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list. Japan will see the bulk of this week's biggest new releases, with Tales of Innocence and Lost Odyssey taking center stage, while titles like No More Heroes and Arkanoid DS promise to find an audience both in Japan and overseas. Europe, meanwhile, will score a pair of high-profile PSP sequels in Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice and WipeOut Pulse, along with the awaited debut of SingStar for the PlayStation 3. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending December 8th, 2007. Games Released in the United States:
A flood of multiplatform ports for titles like Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Golden Compass makes for a slightly more substantial U.S. release week, following last week's trickle of offerings. Most of these titles are based upon licensed properties, however, and few stand out in comparison to the many big-name hits released throughout November. Unreal Tournament III for the PlayStation 3 promises to be the highlight of next week's release lineup, meanwhile, as rumors suggest that Rock Band's PlayStation 2 debut may be pushed back to 2008. Games Released in Europe:
The PlayStation 3 will see a banner week in the UK, where the critically acclaimed Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and the highly anticipated next-gen debut of SingStar will see release in the coming days. The PSP will receive a boost as well, with a pair of Europe-exclusive sequels in Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice and WipeOut Pulse. Extreme Justice is not expected to see a U.S. release until 2008, while WipeOut Pulse has not yet received a release date for any region outside of Europe and Australia. Games Released in Japan:
Japan's recent upswing in the number and quality of its weekly releases continues this week, with Amazon.co.jp reporting the highest preorder numbers for the Nintendo DS Tales series sequel Tales of Innocence and the Mistwalker-developed Xbox 360 RPG Lost Odyssey. The Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee sequel Minna no Golf Portable 2 also promises to be one of the week's biggest titles, as does fellow PSP debut Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida. Finally, Killer 7 creators Grasshopper Manufacture will release the anticipated Wii exclusive action title No More Heroes.
