Today's round-up includes news of a new appointment at Perpetual Entertainment, as well as a reappearance for a certain 'Acclaim'-ed former license at Buena Vista Games, and the latest product news and job postings. - Daron Stinnett, former executive producer at LucasArts, has joined Perpetual Entertainment to act as executive producer for their PC MMORPG, Star Trek Online. Stinnett's experience at LucasArts included roles on games such as Dark Forces, Outlaws, and Star Wars Republic Commando. “The massively multiplayer genre is the ideal way to realize the Star Trek experience,” said Stinnett. “I look forward to working with the team here at Perpetual to make a product that is not only a great game in its own right, but one brimming with the exploration, adventure, and teamwork that is the essence of Star Trek." Star Trek Online is expected to hit shelves in early 2007. - Buena Vista Games, the videogame division of Disney, has announced its acquisition of the gaming rights to the Turok comic book, currently held by Classic Media, Inc. A new Turok game will be developed by Propaganda Games, a Vancouver-based studio wholly owned by BVG. The game will mark the sixth Turok videogame, following Turok 1-3 and Turok Rage Wars on N64, as well as the multiplatform Turok Evolution. "With the launch of the new console and handheld game platforms, we feel it is the perfect time to redefine Turok video games," said BVG general manager Graham Hopper. - Also updated today: product news involving Clickteam's forthcoming Game Factory 2, as well as newly updated jobs from companies including Activision, Ageia Technologies, Luxoflux, Treyarch, CMP Game Group, Forterra Inc., Incredible Technologies, Kush Games, NCsoft, Relic Entertainment, and Shawnee State University.
