Yesterday Metroworks, makers of the CodeWarror development suite, and NDL, the makers of the Gamebryo tools and engine kit, announced that their products will be available for development of Playstation 3 titles. The new Codewarrior kit will participate in SCEI's middleware licensing program for the PS3, continuing the run of Codewarrior suites for past Sony consoles. The PS3 suite is expected to include a compiler, extensible architecture, technology integration, and the ability for teams to collaborate at multiple development sites. Gamebryo 2 will provide assistance with a variety of development tasks, from prototyping, to art and content management, to database integration. No firm dates were given for commercial release of these development toolkits.
