SouthPeak Games, publisher of Two Worlds, announced it will be suing Majesco, claiming the company does not have the right to publish Nobilis-developed My Baby 3 & Friends. SouthPeak claims the right to publish the My Baby games in the U.S., though the franchise developer Nobilis owns the IP, leading to conflict over which company has control of the game’s publishing rights. "We are exceptionally proud of our success in making the My Baby franchise a leader in the North American market; our innovative sales, marketing and PR strategies brought My Baby to a huge audience and built a loyal fan base for future products," said SouthPeak in a public statement. "SouthPeak continues to hold the rights to subsequent My Baby games and we intend to vigorously protect those rights." This lawsuit is just one in a string of legal disputes that SouthPeak has become involved in. The studio recently ran into legal trouble with European distributor CDV, which seized some 40,000 units of software as a result of SouthPeak’s alleged debt to the company. The studio is also facing a lawsuit from Section 8 developer TimeGate Studios over royalties and breach of contract, and recently resolved a conflict with Paradox over a distribution dispute. In the wake of such legal issues, the company recently acquired a $5.5 million injection, following a $10 million credit line last week. "This additional capital significantly bolsters our financial position and enables us to more aggressively pursue our strategic growth objectives, including new content acquisitions, increased distribution and the continued expansion of our already strong portfolio," said Melanie Mroz, SouthPeak’s CEO.
