Epic Indie Adventure Moon Mystery is Now Available on Steam

[Warsaw, Poland] September 30 — Cosmoscouts, in partnership with independent publishing platform indie.io, are proud to announce that Moon Mystery has successfully landed on Steam. The secrets of the Silver Globe are laid bare in an epic adventure across the stars, mixing FPS mechanics with an unique approach to puzzles and ever-evolving environments - one man’s dream made real with a small team of talented developers and Unreal Engine.

The adventure starts on the Moon, putting players in the high-tech suit of an astro-geologist involved in research that might permit humanity to travel across the Solar System and beyond. Soon, something goes wrong and it’s just the geologist and TOBY (Technical-Overseer-Bionically-Improved), on the surface of the most hostile environment known to man - but both will soon discover that there is no shortage of dangerous places across the galaxy. 

The first part of the game is spent on the Moon, adapting to its unique environment, as players try to survive following the incident, exploring vast landscapes in a bid to figure out what has gone wrong. Survival on the lunar surface and among leftover facilities from previous missions is soon enriched by gunplay, as players struggle against technology gone rogue. 

Shooting is one of the major elements of the game, designed to feel smooth, responsive, and plausible: There are no lasers, only highly advanced kinetic weapons, with 10 weapons to choose from and over 100 different attachments. When the geologist and TOBY leave the moon, they will explore numerous alien environments, each with their own host of enemies and unique challenges to overcome; the changing gravity is only one of these aspects. 

Each of these locales offers its own distinct set of obstacles. From the airless Silver Globe, through a research station on the pole of an alien planet, to a vast city on a Von Braun wheel. Iconic concepts from sci-fi-inspired environments that feel both familiar and otherworldly. One of the game’s most striking moments involves a black hole, an awe-inspiring sequence grounded in extensive research into this mysterious cosmic phenomenon. Each location has its own personality, surprising puzzles to solve, and a host of vehicles, from tiny RC cars and submarines to spaceships moving freely in three dimensions. 

Cosmoscouts is an independent Polish studio headquartered in Warsaw, founded to bring Moon Mystery to the players. What originated as one man’s after-hours hobby in 2022 blossomed into a full-size game with a small, but passionate group of developers creating the kind of adventure they always wanted to play. 

"I started Moon Mystery as a solo project, never imagining it would grow into something this big," said Mikołaj Szymanowski, founder and lead designer of Moon Mystery. "With the support from the Kickstarter community and indie.io, I was able to build a small indie development studio to bring the game to life in ways I could never have done alone. It's been a journey beyond my expectations, and I'm incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together. Now, I’m excited for players to finally get in and experience it for themselves."
