Rum Drunk Games :

For Immediate Release

Malmö, Sweden - October 26th, 2024 - Indie game studio Rum Drunk Games is thrilled to announce their debut title, “Mutanoid: The Card Game”, a single player roguelite deck builder that blends strategic depth with vibrant graphics in a bizarre post-apocalyptic world.

A Fresh Take on Deck Building Roguelites

Building upon the foundation laid by genre-defining titles like Slay the Spire and Balatro, Rum Drunk Games has crafted an experience that both honors and innovates. In Mutanoid - The Card Game you will find the familiar, the new and a splash of silly all coming together in a fresh new take fueled by over 40 years of combined experience playing physical board and card games (and yes, occasionally enjoying a bit of rum while doing so), the team brings a number of crazy thoughts and ideas to the digital tabletop with Mutanoid - The Card Game.

Here, Fish Walk on Land And Dog Treats are Delicacies

Set in a colorful, absurd future envisioned through an '80s lens, Mutanoid invites players to navigate a world where dog treats have become rare delicacies and giant fish-like mutants roam the land.

Gone is the traditional map, here you choose missions with unique procedurally generated events and gameplay mechanics, making every adventure fresh and allowing you to balance risk and reward with infinite replayability. This unique setting provides the perfect backdrop for intense card battles with strategic decision-making. You may even uncover the truth behind the apocalypse as you explore the world of Mutanoid..

Build And Evolve Your Team, Craft Your Deck, Loot!

One thing that sets Mutanoid apart is its focus on team building. Players don't just construct a deck during each game; throughout the run they’ll assemble a crew of unique heroes, each bringing their own abilities and set of cards to the pool for that particular run. This dynamic system allows for deep tactical gameplay without unnecessary complexity, challenging players to adapt their strategies with each new recruit and creating exciting new card combinations.

“We wanted to create a game that captures the best elements of our favorite deck builders  while adding our own twist”, said Peder Harty, co-founder of Rum Drunk Games. “Mutanoid is the result of countless hours of playtesting, refinement, and maybe a little too much rum. We can't wait for players to have fun in the crazy world we've created.”

Key Features:

  • Roguelite deckbuilding gameplay with a post-apocalyptic twist

  • Team focused, you build your team during a run (just like your deck), each chosen character will bring their own pool of cards into the game as well as their unique abilities

  • Dynamic positioning and enemy intent system that requires players to juggle incoming damage and shuffling their characters to avoid or block it

  • A brand new mission and map system with difficulty modifiers and game-altering challenges for risk vs. reward gameplay

  • Upgrade your deck and your character roster between missions with in-game rewards. No purchases, no microtransactions

  • Hilarious cast of bizarre mutants, jittery robots and mysterious survivors to encounter and unlock
