Montréal, Thursday 24th February, 2022: The Canadian technology agency, Turbulent, can today lift the lid on its next-generation bug reporting platform built to turn player frustration into opportunities for engagement.

Appropriately called “PleaseFix”, the new platform is designed to give gamers agency in the bug reporting process, both allowing them to be heard by the developers of the games they love as well as enabling those same studios to prioritise the fixing of the issues that really matter to them.

In short, it’s a chance for developers to connect with their communities, using the bugs that inevitably pop up during a game’s lifespan to build bridges and strengthen the developer-player relationship.

“We think of PleaseFix as a next-generation bug reporting platform custom-built for today’s game development industry and its consumers,” says Michael Rodrigues, Director of Business Development at Turbulent. “We wanted to serve up a system that allows developers to show they’re happy to walk the walk as well as talk the talk. It’s about being open with their communities, listening to feedback and committing to taking action; in short, it’s about building trust.”

Traditional bug reporting and QA systems are no longer fit for purpose in today's development world. In contrast, PleaseFix - which has evolved out of software developed to aid bug reporting for Cloud Imperium Games and its space opus Star Citizen - makes gamers an integral part of a game’s evolution, delivering gamer-led prioritisation that enables studios to optimise their resources and deliver the bug fixes that the community wants most.

“PleaseFix - or Issue Council, as it's known to our community - is central to our efforts to keep players involved with Star Citizen's open development. User-generated reports are accessible to the entire organization in a moderated and sanitized form,” offers the Player Experience Team at Cloud Imperium Games. “This allows us to factor in the impact on the community when reacting to and fixing issues. We're able to complete the feedback loop by providing updates to contributors about what’s happening in real time.”

"It's been an absolute pleasure working with the PleaseFix Team,” adds the Platform Team at Cloud Imperium Games. “Their dedication and attention to detail have enabled us to achieve success with our community-driven reporting and feedback initiatives."

PleaseFix empowers players to communicate directly with the development team, transforming a negative interaction into an opportunity for collaboration. QA and production teams can be automatically provided with detailed bug reports including screenshots and captures, hardware specs, and game conditions when gamers engage with the system. Reports are logged for all players to see and then prioritised, by the community, using PleaseFix’s instant ‘upvote’ button.

This leads to:

  • More informed and detailed bug reporting.

  • Bug prioritisation by the community.

  • Fewer resources required within QA teams.

  • Increased sense of ownership by players.

“When the team at Rainbow Six: Siege partnered with Turbulent and PleaseFix to create R6Fix, we had two main objectives in mind. First and foremost, we wanted to improve our game. R6Fix provides our team with the ability to see issues faster and resolve them quickly, and has become a vital part of our triage process,” comments David McCloskey, Player Experience Manager for Rainbow Six: Siege (Ubisoft).

“Secondly, we wanted to be transparent with our community and allow them to see what is going on with the game as we believe this to be a key to success for any multiplayer game. R6Fix not only empowers us to do so, it also enables the community to see how often we interact with and fix their reported issues. It has become an important tool for not only our team, but for our community as well.”
